The School of Non-Ferrous Metals is the only professional higher educational institution from the Urals to the Far East, which trains specialists in the field of technology for the production of semi-finished products from aluminum alloys for the construction, aerospace, transport engineering and other sectors of the national economy. Graduates of the School working at metallurgical and machine-building enterprises form the basis of the industrial personnel of these enterprises in the Siberian-Far Eastern region, which confirms the high level of educational technologies implemented in this School.

2019 Alumna, Junior Engineer, Sever Minerals, Saint-Petersburg

Studying at the Department of Mineral Processing gave me an excellent theoretical basis, which now allows me to solve various difficult problems and be competent when discussing work issues. Separately, it is worth noting the great practical experience that I was given by three industrial practices at various enterprises and scientific work at the department. This experience became one of the reasons why immediately after graduating from SibFU I was accepted as a junior engineer in the equipment department at Sever Minerals, a supplier of technological solutions for the mining industry. This company is the official representative of Metso, WEG, Danfoss, Multotec - leading manufacturers of mineral processing equipment in the world.

The scientific advisor was Professor Petr Polyakov, an experienced and demanding scientific advisor. His task is not just to ensure that a graduate student defends his thesis, but to develop a person comprehensively, to create a competent specialist.

Postgraduate studies gave me experience in scientific research, a deeper understanding of the processes occurring during aluminum electrolysis, allowed me to develop a systematic approach to solving research and practical problems. I would even say it has expanded the scientific horizons in general. I work for Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA). During this time, my team and I have developed several designs of electrolytic cells both for the modernization of the existing facilities of the company and for the construction of new plants.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy. I graduated in 2020. Metallurgy was one of my dream professions from childhood. I like it a lot. My teachers were kind and helpful.

I have two favorite teachers: 1) Yulia Terechenko – She taught me Mathematics.

2) Natalia Simonova – She didn’t teach me but she is one of the nicest and caring persons I know. She is always ready to give assistance.
